Duotone Mono Review
We took out the new Duotone Mono 9m in around 12 knots of wind on a foil-board. We were however pleasantly surprised when the Mono got me off the water and cruising along.
Duotone say that they have completely redesigned the kite this year with the main focus on reducing weight, increasing the wind range and better relaunch.
I haven’t yet tested the top end of the kite but the low end impressed, the 9m worked well for me in 12 knots (I’m circa 78kgs and had a winter suit on.)
Light wind relaunch was impressive, with the kite easily coming off the water with a pull on one steering line.
In the air the kite is playful with nice bar feedback. Bar pressure is not too heavy and the kite is not overly twitchy in relation to bar travel, a great attribute for foiling. The deeper profile on the kite give it reassuring stability and tack and gybe assisting lift.
A great lightweight free ride and foiling kite that is really comfortable. I’m looking forward to getting out in some bigger winds on the Mono to try it’s upper range with a twin tip.
