Description

The Duotone Mono is one of the best one-strut all-round kites on the market, marrying incredible handling with an easy to use, forgiving nature!

If you are looking for a lightweight, dynamic and powerful kite for the ultimate in freeride and foil performance, the new Duotone 2022 Mono is the kite you need. With a super-low aspect design, the kite delivers plenty of low-end power and is optimised for light wind conditions.

The wind range is wide, and you’ll enjoy longer sessions on the water if the wind picks up. Lots of one strut kites suffer from flutter when the wind increases, and as such, they have a very narrow wind range.

The Mono uses the best materials available with a unique canopy profile and wide chord depth to keep flutter to an absolute minimum. The reduced weight of the kite makes for exciting performance in the air. In light winds, the drift and hang of the kite is incredible, and the low aspect nature makes it almost impossible to back stall.

This makes it a really easy to use kite for newcomers to the sport. There is still plenty of performance to unlock, though with impressive handling and fast bar response.

The Mono is a fantastic kite for foilers who want simplicity, the free-rider looking for a light wind weapon, and even wave riders who have light winds at their spot. If you travel a lot and want to keep weight to a minimum, then this is the perfect kite for you.

The easy to fly and forgiving nature of the Mono makes it perfect for a wide range of abilities; from beginner to expert, the kite has something to offer everyone. With instant relaunch, you’ll spend more time kiting and less time in the water too.

The Mono is the perfect tool for the freerider looking for a light wind weapon, kite foilers wanting simplicity and even wave riders who lack wind at their spot. Suited to a wide range of abilities from beginner to experts, the Mono has something to offer everyone out there. The relaunch is so easy, the kite almost bounces off the water when you crash it, even in light winds. It's an experience that is sure to excite and amaze you.

The lower weight ensures unrivalled drifting abilities, more dynamic handling, a near-mystical ability to stay in the air in the lulls and improved power from a faster upstroke.

It is perfect for travelling and can perform on a twin tip, directional or foilboard. The smaller sizes are ideal for fast progression, freeriders, wave riders and foil boarders alike. The kite has amazing low-end performance, and it flies upwind with ease. The relaunch is very fast and easy; thanks to the Delta design the kite doesn’t stick to the water.

You can also use the power of the Mono to catch a wave, crank up the depower and shred the wave with zero pull allowing for the ultimate ride in the surf. Its lightweight allows the kite to drift and hang in the air as you ride down the line; it also makes it the perfect travel companion when weight is an issue.

Finally, the relaunch of the kite is much easier too; it’s so light that the slightest of puffs of wind will see it rising back into the sky. If you want a light kite for travelling, this is it, if you want a dynamic kite with an incredible low end for foiling, step right up, if you are just starting your kiting journey and want an easy to fly, forgiving kite, look no further. If wave riding sets your heart on fire, the Mono will happily stoke the flames especially in light winds, or perhaps freeride is your game, you’ll enjoy the constant pull and smooth power delivery. The Mono may be defined as a one-strut kite, but it is so much more than that, take one for a spin and find out what it is all about.

Duotone Mono 4 / 5 Line control:

The Duotone Mono can be ridden on 4 or 5 line control bars, uniting new-school and free-ride in one kite. The Mono‘s delta shape also offers great sheet and-go riding, excellent wind range and high de-power.

The overall shape helps the Mono turn quickly and predictably while the new bridle geometry stabilizes the arc for a soft, consistent bar feel and extreme back-stall resistance.

The 4-line mode boasts an innovative new safety system and bar-feel prefect for those who prefer soft, easy handling.

In 5-line mode the 5th Element additionally stabilizes the arc, providing very direct bar-feel for new-school riding and the ultimate 5th line safety.

Auto re-launch means that you can go for it and never have to worry about re-launchng your kite. Just take your hands off the bar and let the kite do the work for you!

The Duotone Mono also features the new “Adaptive Tip”. In recent years, there has been a trend leaning towards more reactive kites with even lighter sheeting forces than in the past. Such kites are really comfortable, lively for wave riding and offer more forgiving kite loops because they pivot around the wingtip.

However, comparison tests have shown that Duotone team riders and testers actually prefer kites with a harder bar feel because they offer better feedback, precise steering and more dynamic turning, which in turn creates more power.

The new “Adaptive Tip” allows users to easily change the sheeting force and turning performance through a simple back pigtail adjustment, allowing you to customize your kite to your desired style and feel:

Tunable Bar Pressure:

The Mono features an adjustment in the back line bridle that permits the rider to opt for greater or lesser bar pressure. Low bar pressure reduces strain on arms and makes turn initiation easier, but gives less feedback about kite position and load condition. Higher bar pressure is a little more athletic and is often preferred by more experienced riders.

Technology
Trailing Edge Force Control:

The Trailing Edge Force Control is responsible for the smooth power distribution between the different materials of the kite, forcing the tensions in the right directions.

Since 2013 the waves are higher and wider to eliminate stress points between the Dacron Trailing Edge and the Trinity TX Canopy material.

This change in construction reduces fluttering marks and ensures that the material is not wearing out.

Kook Proof Connectors:

The kook proof line connection points prevent accidents by guaranteeing that you cannot accidentally connect your lines incorrectly when rigging your kite.

Double-V Pigtails:

These pigtails distribute the load of the line connections to the kite, minimizing the risk of fatigue, making the kite less prone to distortion and helps it to steer more smoothly.

Load Distribution Panels:

As kite geometry improves, the canopy must continue to resist increasing forces. To spread these forces, Load-Distribution-Panels are used, holding the kite’s shape even under the most extreme loads.

In practice this gives a smoother and more consistent performance from the kite in any riding situation.

Anti-Snag:

The Anti Snag webbing is preventing the lines from tangling around the tip of the kite.

Waterstarts are made easier and safety is increased.

Self-Rescue Handles:

The self-rescue handles on the inside of the wingtips can be easily found in case of an offshore break down.

They provide a good, comfortable grip while sailing back to the shore during a self-rescue manoeuvre.

Fusion Strut:

This construction allows for a controlled distribution of forces between strut and leading edge.

Struts are 100% connected to the leading edge with a flexible Dyneema line, which promotes higher canopy tension and a clean profile.

Heavy Duty Leading Edge Closing Seam:

The leading edges of all kites are extremely durable due to a special heavy duty closing seam.

The Dacron material at the leading edge is reinforced with a self sticky Insignia Tape and double stitched additionally.

The Heavy Duty Leading Edge Closing Seam is resistant to very high tensions and diagonal forces.

Control Bar
Duotone Trust Control Bar System

Riders of all levels, from pros to newcomers, will all gain substantial advantages from the new Duotone Trust Bar system.

Safety - perform all moves with safety leash
Water Start - without swimming
Performance - increased performance due to wider wind range

All kites can be flown with the same bar, just the short line attached in the middle of the leading edge has to be adjusted to the different kite sizes. Instructions will be attached to all bars or upgrades.

Line Length Advisor:

Different styles of riding, different kite models or the kite size can be influencing factors that require different line length.

In order to further increase this synergy effect the 19 and 22 m lines come now on a medium bar (49 / 42 cm) and the 24 and 27m lines on a large bar (53 / 46 cm).

The bar is the riders’ first point of contact with the kite. In order to achieve a maximum in comfort of riding it is essential to match the kite and the riders’ style of riding to the correct line length.

19m (70% Handling / 30% Power)

Super fast and reactive tuning speeds, shorter lines are best for extreme freestyle and crazy kiteloops. They are also excellent for wave riding, where kite turning speed is important. Wakestyle riders like the close connection to the kite too. The disadvantage is you lose some of the low end power.

Fast and reactive turning
Extreme Freestyle, Wakestyle and Waves
Tight, super fast and hard kite loops

22m (60% Handling / 40% Power)

The favourite length for freestyle and waves! These 22m lines are still great for getting lots of speed from the kite, perfect for wave riding and freestyle. Not as extreme as the 19m lines, they still lose a bit of low end power.

Reactive turning
Fast Kite Loops
Great setup for freestyle riders
Best choice for waveriding

24m (50% Handling / 50% Power)

The best choice for an all round length, good turning speed combined with good power make 24m the perfect choice for a lot of riders. Great for freeride, waves and freestyle.

Most Versatile Length
Great for all-round freeriding
Good low end and a good turning speed
Most Versatile Length
High jumps as you can “load” the lines
The recommended size for a one bar quiver

27m (40% Handling / 60% Power)

The extra length means extra power, get a little more range out of your quiver by adding this bar with the longer lines. They are also great for jumping as you can really “load” the lines when you edge and send the kite back through the window.

Enormous Low End Power
Huge Jumps
Lots of Lift

The bar is your first point of contact with the kite, It is the connection between you and your kite and it is important to get it right. And it’s actually an easy formula: The shorter the lines, the more direct and faster the kite turns. The longer the lines, the more power you can generate out of them! Choose a Duotone Trust Bar, and choose the right line set up for your style of riding.
