Description

The F-One WTF V2 is a no compromise freestyle machine designed for winners; it’s even in the name: Win The Freestyle!

Returning to a pure C-Shape design, was a very exciting process for us, we were able to listen to our top freestylers and work with them and our designer, Robert Graham, to create the ultimate kite. The goal was to build them the kite they wanted, not a toned down version for the masses but the perfect tool for our top riders to do their job.

The C-Shape itself has always been the best option for making an easy to control and dynamic kite. To maximise the handling during intense moments such as loading up for pop and slack, and megaloops, we utilised a five strut design which keeps the profile exceedingly steady and gives our riders great confidence in the kite at all times. F-One decided to add a 5th line to help with control, optimise the power and also to enable them to relaunch the kite quickly with minimal effort.

The kite’s pop is huge and the slack which follows is sudden and gives right enough time for the rider’s multiple passes. The WTF!? pulls you then out of your trick with speed and stability.

The Kite’s profile has been improved in order to reduce the heavy sensation in your bar whilst keeping the excellent bar feedback from the previous edition.

The kite now moves better in the window and generates more speed in the low end.

Freestyle kites undergo unique situations as the riders load and release, going from full power as they edge to no power as they fly through the air, that "slack" feeling is the Holy Grail of a good freestyle kite. The F-One WTF has superior pop and excellent slack, while we have ensured the kite is strong enough to handle these intense demands, especially during high wind kite loops, we have also kept the weight of the kite down to ensure excellent handling.

Each size of the WTF has been individually designed to match the conditions they are aimed at. The larger sizes have been developed to deliver more power and get you planing early; the smaller sizes are built with a high top end wind range in mind. This means whichever size you choose; you know everything has been done to get the most out of the given conditions on the day.

F-One are offering the WTF in every size from 5m to 15m allowing you to choose the perfect quiver for you without having to compromise. The kites are also highly tuneable, allowing you to dial in the flying characteristics to suit your riding style. There are three tuning options on the front lines; these allow you to adjust the kite to fly according to your level, riding style and the conditions of the day. Three rear line tuning options enable you to tune how the kite feels at the bar and adjust the handling too.

At the top level of freestyle today judges are rewarding the riders who enter the trick at high speed, then pop to massive heights while being able to perform technical tricks with fast landings to get the maximum points. The WTF is unique in that we let you tune the way the kite pops and gives your slack. By moving the front lines, you can get more or less power, pop and slack. As you start to reach competition level you can select the higher power option to ensure you get those amplitude points, if your level is still progressing then you can dial the kite down a few notches to make the pop easier and the slack more forgiving.

F-One tested a lot of different profiles for each size to get the perfect combination of pop, slack and support. When working with our designer Robert Graham, the riders were amazed at how much he could tune each profile and prototype to create the perfect combination of these three critical aspects to make the best kite possible.

When talking about the WTF, it is important to fully understand these three key design elements. Pop relates to the ability of the rider to unhook and dig the edge into the water. This allows them to load up the lines and the board for an explosive launch into their trick.

Of course, once you are in the air you need the lines to de-tension, creating slack, this allows you to pass the bar with ease, and the rider can perform tricks without being pulled by the kite. Lastly, support is an often-overlooked aspect, riders these days are going higher and further than ever before with the kite super low. They don’t want to fall from the sky though, with no support from the kite, so it is critical that the kite can regain some tension and help them avoid overly harsh landings.

By working tirelessly with F-One's demanding pro riders and expert designer and testers, we have created a kite that combines these three essential characteristics in perfect harmony. In addition to that, the WTF gives the rider great bar feedback, an impressive "size tuned" wind range, alongside excellent handling and turning capabilities.

The WTF when sold complete ships with the new LINX Freestyle Bar adjustable from 42 to 35cm letting you further tune the kite to your desired preference. This bar also comes with a wide chicken loop to make hooking in and out easy. Safety is, of course, important, even for the best riders; the 5th line takes care of this and can be activated even when the kite is in suicide mode by simply pushing the release.

Features
Technology
Back Line Tuning:

Turning & bar pressure tuning.

FRONT: more bar pressure, slower turning kite.

BACK: lighter bar pressure, faster turning kite.

Front Line Tuning:

Power and slack tuning.

HIGH: more slack / less power.

LOW: more power / less slack.

Flat Sewing:

Stronger assembly of the panels: they are now glued and sewn together to make the canopy more rip resistant.

Streamlined Leading Edge End Tips:

The leading edge tips benefit from a reduced diameter, they are streamlined to lower the drag and equipped with a strap to avoid bridle tangling

Trailing Edge:

The internal outline of the trailing edge panels is no more linear but with a series of arches.

In the centre, DACRON has been replaced by a double layer of canopy fabric which improves spreading the tensions, maintaining the profile and brings new gains in stability and performance.

Vertical Strut Cut:

The kite's struts are designed with a vertical cut in order to optimize the strength / diameter ratio.

F-One Pulley:

Pulley structure is extremely resistant.

Bridle is integrated in the lower part of the pulley, working in its axis and not sideways.

Pulleys can be removed independently from the bridle, you can change the bridle and keep the pulley or vice versa.

Kevlar Reinforcement:

Most seams on the leading edge are protected with an abrasion-resistant Kevlar® fabric to prevent the seams from deteriorating when the kite's profile is subjected to aggressive ground friction

One-Pump Collar Valve:

Easier to remove and put back.

Convenient for bladder replacement.

Technoforce:

TECHNOFORCE™ of TEIJIN is a high density Polyester fabric with a tear stopping structure using thin and high tension yarn.

Control Bar
F-One Linx WTF Control Bar:

The F-One Linx WTF bar takes all the best bits of the Monolith Bar and added some great features to create the ultimate connection to your kite.

The new integrated floats on the rear line not only offer a cleaner look; they also house the mechanism to adjust the size of your bar too.

A new One Line Flag Out safety system features this year and is now the standard for all F-ONE kites. There’s a high-quality corrosion proof Inox steel hub on the front lines that allows one line to slide. The first 6m of the front lines are larger in diameter for durability, and there is a stopper to prevent the bar from travelling too far away from you when the safety is engaged.

F-One have also added a manual swivel on top of the chicken loop this year; it uses a high-quality ball bearing and is easy to rotate even when powered. This allows you to untwist your front lines after performing rotational tricks and is a feature every rider is going to fall in love with!

The Lifeline safety connection has an added swivel, so there is no danger of twists affecting the release of the kite, and the same goes for the leash too. The safety can be set up in suicide mode for freestyle riders while still retaining full functionality when the chicken loop is released as the loop can slide through the Lifeline safety connection with ease.

There’s a new Inox steel ring on the front lines; riders can choose to run the front lines through this ring to give the kite a short V on the front lines. Or you can run the lines outside of this ring to have a full front V. Kites like the Furtive perform better with the full front V, while the Bandit flies better with the short V. This feature of the bar means you only need one kite bar regardless of your quiver of kites.

F-One have retained the ability to tune the rear lines, so if a line does stretch, you can still tune the bar so all the lines are equal and the kite will still fly properly.

The LINX bar features a smaller diameter to make it comfier in your hands and reduce fatigue and, of course, we have new fresh colours!
