North Code Zero
Ask a question
Borrowed from the North sailing heritage, The North Code Zero is the name of a sail born to go fast in light, shifty conditions. Like its namesake, we've engineered this kite for performance in very light air. The all-new Code Zero is a light, fast and reactive single-strut performer with effortless one-handed control and efficient light wind power delivery.
Using lighter N-Dure Dacron on the leading edge and strut for stiffness and durability, a double-canopy layer to reinforce the trailing edge and lighter-weight bladder material in every size. DuraLite wingtip chafe protectors provide abrasion resistance only where you need it, and small battens on the 9, 10 and 11m stabilize the canopy.
Super fun and easy to fly, with intuitive relaunch and reverse launch, the Code Zero is also great for learning to kite or foil in light winds. The kite is stable and evenly tensioned, with a balanced geometry. It won't luff, over-fly or front stall, and its one-handed steering means you can always foil in your preferred stance.
For 2024 North have updated the Code Zero with a newly revised bridle for a more rigid feel, lighter bar pressure, more direct steering response and added stability. North have also optimised the angle of attack in the wingtip and improved the tension in the trailing edge for smoother aerodynamics and reduced flutter. And we’ve introduced three new sizes to the range: 6, 8 and 10m.
The Code Zero is a highly efficient kite with a wide wind range and impressive power delivery for a one-strut kite – so you can ride lighter wind conditions with a smaller kite.
Ideal for foil and wave riding, the Code Zero has excellent drift, manoeuvrability and extremely fast, reactive steering. Engineered for travelling at speeds so fast other kites couldn’t keep up, the Code Zero has excellent drift for foiling, where you travel at very high speeds downwind and it's important the kite goes along with you.
In light wind kiting, you want to have the smallest possible kite in the least amount of wind. To keep the kite flying, the less weight it has, the easier it is to fly. We wanted to see what was possible, how light you could go without losing performance or making it too fragile. Engineered using the lightest materials possible, we’ve taken a minimalist approach – there’s nothing on it you don’t need. This helps contribute to the Code Zero’s playful, agile feel and fun, dynamic steering..
The only added reinforcements are the Duralite seam protectors on the wingtip and the center strut, providing abrasion resistance only where you need it.
A double layer of canopy material at the trailing edge provides optimal tension in the canopy shape, keeping it as smooth as possible and helping the kite to fly faster through the sky.
N-Dure lighter weight dacron in the leading edge and strut. This ensures the airframe meets the structural demands without adding unnecessary weight.
Lighter weight bladder material to match the refined lighter construction method. These ingredients combine for a super lightweight kite with the fastest response and turning speeds possible.
The Code Zero kites are constructed using high tenacity polyester yarn ripstop canopy for lightness, high tear strength, zero porosity and longevity.
Ergonomic high volume single point inflation system with large diameter hose for rapid inflation and deflation. The cap and valve base geometry are optimised for more comfortable opening and closing in colder conditions (when your fingers are freezing). The bayonet style main inflation valve is compatible with most pumps - no adapter required.
Curved leading edge profile means less surface area touching the water surface, for fast, headache-free launching.
The lightweight Code Zero packs down into a high-quality GoGreen Recycled PET kite bag with Foil Assist. The recycled polyester ripstop fabric meets the Global Recycling Standard. The Kite Bag features a comfortable STPU padded area with groove designed especially for carrying a foil mast over your shoulder. It also features mesh windows for ventilation, zipper pockets for spare parts and storage, a Control System pocket and kite pump holder.
With responsive power delivery in light, shifty conditions, the Code Zero is highly efficient, with super direct steering impulse. The Code Zero has a wide wind range and impressive power for a one-strut kite. With a 3, 5 and 7m you can cover the whole wind range, from 10 to 30 knots. It depends on the size, but it performs best in its low-end range, and will carry you through the lulls and gusts. When you’re riding with more wind, the smaller sizes will open the world of foil freestyle. The kite is lighter and faster through the window, making it fun for performing tricks.
Release and reload faster with the intuitive single-action reload Connect Quick Release, and change quickly between disciplines with the Toolless Interloop, our no-tools required modular harness loop replacement system. T
The Navigator Control System raises the bar in kite safety, connecting you intuitively to your kite so you can think less and feel more. North have taken premium leading technology materials and applied simplified ergonomic design for precise performance with ease and comfort. Sensing your kite's position just became second nature.
Connect Quick Release with intuitive single action reload raises the bar in kite control system safety. The red Quick Release handle has been ergonomically designed to fit in your hand comfortably for an industry standard push away release.
Push, twist, pull, lock and go. Our Toolless InterLoop makes the customer experience effortless when swapping between disciplines.
For an ergonomic grip and intuitve feel when the control bar is orientated correctly.
All loaded or running surfaces feature highly polished 316 stainless steel and low-friction components to enable fast, safe releases in a wide range of conditions.
Prevents tangled lines when packed up. Bungee retracts out of the way when not in use.
To help prevent line abrasion from uncovered lines against your skin, while colour-coded PU tubing covers where the leaders come out of the float help them remain rigid and out of the way when the flying lines aren't under tension.
Provides industry proven depower on demand.
Ensure you always set up your lines correctly. Designed to be exactly the same length so you can easily change the front (knotted end) and rear (larks head loop) connectors to match most other manufacturers kite configurations.
For flex and durability.
Grip, leader tubing and line retainer pull tabs give a nod to our sailing heritage, port (red) and starboard (green).
Ensure nothing hard comes in touch with you or your board, and contain rear line adjustment.
Latest technology German-made LIROS DC Pro offers the highest load capacity with minimal line diameter, for less parasitic drag, extreme stretch resistance and the most direct performance.
